We are delighted to advise that we have published a history of the Officer’ Association over the last 25 years. Huge thanks must go to Janice Rouse for the enormous amount of work she has put into this over the last couple of years, as well as to those from across the membership who have contributed.

This Web Site aims to make it easier to find out about the Officers’ Association and what we’re doing, whether you’re a member or new to the site. Do have a look round!

    Remembrance Parade, HMS Collingwood

Friday 10th November was again a bright sunny morning at HMS COLLINGWOOD and over two hundred Officers, Staff, Trainees and Civilians mustered at 1030 at the Falklands Memorial for the Remembrance Day Parade.

Also present were some of the wives widowed during the previous year. An ecumenical service led by the Establishment Chaplain included hymns, prayers and a reflection, culminating in the last post and the two minutes silence.

A roll call of those in Naval Service who had died during the previous twelve months was read out and wreaths were laid by Captain Tim Davey on behalf of the Establishment and by Captain Jim Palmer on behalf of the Officers’ Association.

  • OA Sword 2023

On the 16th June, the OA Sword was presented at Ceremonial Divisions at HMS COLLINGWOOD, this year by the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin KCB ADC, accompanied by his French counterpart, General Thierry Burkhard, Chef d’État-Major des Armées. The event was shortened due to the hot weather, with only the Guard and Band marching past. We were treated to an impressive arms display by the Guard, as well as three rifle volleys.

The OA Sword had previously belonged to Lt Cdr John Stafferton, a career Weapon Engineer Officer who joined the Navy in 1963 and was a long term supporter of the OA. A huge thank you to his widow, Mrs Joyce Stafferton, who very kindly donated the sword.

The Sword was awarded to Lt Will Hope, for outstanding leadership as lead instructor on the Weapon Engineering (WE) System Engineering and Management Course (SEMC). Many congratulations to Lt Hope for this award and we wish him well in his future career.
